BLACK EYECARE PERSPECTIVE Iniatives
Our work is driven by four strategically designed initiatives focused on building awareness, education, and career pathways across the eye care profession. Each program addresses a critical point in the student journey from early exposure to mentorship and workforce preparation creating a connected pipeline that supports the next generation of eye care professionals.
Below, you will find each initiative outlined with a brief overview and a link to learn more about how it is making an impact.

IMPACT HBCU
IMPACT HBCU brings together students, educators, optometrists, industry partners, and community leaders to expand access to eye care careers, with a focused effort on engaging HBCU campuses. Through the IMPACT HBCU program, we collaborate directly with students, faculty, and campus leadership to build awareness, provide education, and create clear pathways into the profession.

Black EyeCare Perspective Preoptometry Club (BEPPOC)
BEPPOC — the first nationally recognized pre-optometry club — was established to ensure that no aspiring future optometrist is ignored, discouraged, or disadvantaged. The program is open to students interested in pursuing careers in eye care and provides mentorship, guidance, and educational resources to support their journey. Students can complete a member profile to be connected with an advisor for personalized support.

Signing Day
SIGNING DAY is a celebration of the achievements of the BEPPOC members and pre-optometry students who have gained acceptance into a school or college of optometry.

Speed-Netting
A high energy, fast-paced networking event designed specifically for optometry students, optometrists and eye care professionals that works much like “speed-dating.”
